My story ‘The Widow and the Xir’, featuring a nomadic tribe on a moonworld orbiting a Saturnine giant, and a widowed mother whose grief draws her husband’s dangerous ‘desert ghost’ to her people, is now available in audio (and text) at Serial Box, beautifully narrated by Deepti Gupta. Many thanks to Apex Magazine for first publishing this back in 2011 (!). I’ve fond memories of writing it in between finishing the first draft of The Devourers, during copious replays of Peter Gabriel’s ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ album.
