New Novella: The Last Dragoners of Bowbazar

Cover art for my novella The Last Dragoners of Bowbazar, by Tran Nguyen. A painting of an androgynous figure of uncertain gender in elaborate, brightly patterned robes and jewellery, a veil over their face, stroking the long neck of a dragon enfolding them in its wings, its skin and scales white and violet, reminiscent of a flower's petals.

I’m very pleased to announce, at long last, my second book, The Dragoners of Bowbazar, a coming-of-age novella in the vein of Studio Ghibli films (but adult-oriented) set in Calcutta of the 1990s/2000s, following Ru, a boy who realises that his family might be migrants from another reality, and Alice, a neighbour from Old Chinatown he longs to share their secrets with.

Many thanks to the wonderful Navah Wolfe for working with me on this, to Tran Nguyen for the gorgeous cover art, to my agent Sally Hardy and everyone at Cooke McDermid for making my life as a writer so much easier, and to Subterranean Press for taking such care in bringing this little book to the world. I hope you all like it.

The signed, numbered, limited hardcover edition is available for preorder now (my gratitude to anyone and everyone who preorders–it helps), along with more details about the book, here: https://subterraneanpress.com/tldob/ There will also be an ebook edition that should be available in online retailers everywhere. The book will be out in June. Thank you to every one of my readers who wanted another book from me. I appreciate your patience, and I hope this one doesn’t disappoint, slim though it is.
