When I worked night shifts on-call as a dog hotel attendant in Vancouver, people kept telling me to write about it. So I wrote a story called ‘The Patron Saint of Night Puppers’, about a night attendant at a dog hotel in Vancouver, all alone with her thoughts and a whole bunch of dogs on Halloween weekend, with a rumoured dog-snatcher prowling the streets of the city. And I’m very pleased to announce that it’s going to be in Mahvesh Murad and Jared Shurin‘s new anthology THE OUTCAST HOURS (Solaris Books), out in February 2019.
